We wanted to share with you some of the top questions we get asked in the professional marketing world and what our answers are to help you in your social media marketing journey!
- Why do I need SM company profiles?
- Social Media Pages work like mini search engines
- Come into play in Google/Yahoo/Bing searches and if you are lacking a company page on any of the primary search pages your search ability will be lower, as Google/Yahoo/Bing expect to see them if your business is current and valid.
- Finally you want the page created (EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT USING IT YET) because you want to make sure that you have claimed your business name on all the social media pages. This way no one else can come in claiming to be you and get the page before you have the chance.
- Why can’t I just use my personal SM profile?
- 1 – Personal Profiles were not designed to function as search engines. So all the posts to your personal page are not enhancing your overall digital SEO.
- 2 – Personal Pages are meant for personal information not business information. This means that you cannot list your business address and have it function in the way that a business page can for search ability, for ease of access, or for professionalism.
- 3 – When you post a personal article or topic on your personal page, it could offend your professional partners. You always want to make sure that you are posting only what is business related on your business page and post the articles and family pictures on your personal page.
- 4 – Mixing personal and professional relations can get sticky. If you post an article that discusses politics or religion on your personal page (that you are using for business) and then let an employee go that disagrees with those posts you run the risk of serious lawsuits and issues of discrimination.
- Why should I post regularly?
- These pages offer you the ability to share content in a simple easy fashion that gives you search ability with all your key phrases when they apply to you. (As long as the page is created properly and properly linked to your website)
- Every post you create enhances your SEO.
- Every post that you create offers your potential clients and customers an opportunity to know, like, and trust you.
- Social Media is digital networking. Just as you network and make face-to-face connections you want to be doing that on the digital world. As the digital world continues working while you’re asleep, at other networking events, and can help to close a face-to-face connection as well.
- Why do I need reviews?
- When a person refers you to another person they automatically trust you and believe in you. This is exactly what a digital review does for people online. Reviews offer digital credibility. They need to know they can trust you before they call.
- Reviews are also very important for the Search engines and search ability for your website. Google/Yahoo/Bing will push you higher on searches if you have them as this continues to show that you are a current and valid business.
- Sometimes reviews will even display higher than the social media sites themselves in searches. This is in part because of all the great keywords that people use in reviews and in part because Google/Yahoo/Bing want to show the best business that could fit a person’s search and if you have good reviews Google/Yahoo/Bing feel that they are also referring a valued business partner.
- Why do I need professional images?
- They say that people’s current attention span is less than that of a goldfish. This means that you literally have SECONDS to capture someone’s attention. Images are one of the best ways to accomplish this.
- You want professional images of the interior of your office, exterior of your building (for people that are trying to find your office), and of your staff. This gives people the chance to “get to know you” before they even pick up the phone or send an email.
- Why do my employees need to post?
- You want to make sure that you’re TRUSTED employees have access and can be posting to social media pages as well as your professional marketing team.
- When you have images that show the personality of the office you will attract more of the clients that you want to see in your office.
- Many times the staff has time to post more often than the business owner or manager and it is important to post regularly in order to keep your pages current.
- Make sure you create boundaries and have post limitations for your staff. A marketing expert can help you craft your requirements for posting to make sure that you don’t end up with pictures of the drunk attendees at a company party showing up on our business page.
- Why should I follow other business pages social media?
- Always follow applicable business partners and trusted professionals on their social media pages.
- For one they will often do the same for you which gives you more visibility.
- Two when someone is searching for a business that is related to yours. For example Realtor and Mortgage Broker, or Car Sales and Car Insurance. You may end up getting a new client just because you are digitally connected to the person that they chose to work with.
- Finally because the posts that they do may inspire you to do your own post in relation to theirs and they may have some insight that you can share in for your business.
- Why should I share my blog on social media?
- Blog posts can enhance the SEO on your website, but to trigger higher SEO off your site you need to be sharing those posts elsewhere. And the link back to the site gives Google/Yahoo/Bing more reasons to push you higher on their searches.
- Why should I share my newsletter on social media?
- Sharing your newsletter on social media offers your SM followers to also follow your newsletter, gives you better traction on the page opens, and offers more information to potential clients so the know you are the best option for them.
- Why should I get help with my social media page creation?
- Social Media changes just about every few weeks and especially when creating a new page it is a good idea to make sure that it is done correctly so that when you take the page over in the future you know that you are posting to a page that is helping your SEO rather than hurting it.
- Often when people create a page without completing all the steps and then properly linking to the website the page is not searchable to the public. This means that no one can easily find their page and that they will not end up with the following that they desire.
Social Media is here to help. Use it. If you don’t you may end up finding yourself falling behind.
