This blog, on ChatGPT and how we use it for SEO, was (somewhat) written by ChatGPT. ChatGPT is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) language model based on the GPT-3.5 architecture. It has been trained on an enormous amount of text data, allowing it to understand natural language and generate human-like responses to a wide range of prompts.

Fuze7 Marketing’s SEO specialists and blog writers are currently using AI by inputting target keyword phrases in the form of a question, asking ChatGPT to assist with the research of those keyword phrases, and then shaping the way we generate organic site and blog content for our clients.

Can ChatGPT Be Used for Marketing?

We’ve been using it for months to assist clients with SEO content, keyword targeting, and more. Think of ChatGPT as an advanced version of a normal Google search. Instead of being given a brief overview paragraph above a bunch of links to do research, ChatGPT begins a conversation with its user, gathering data from several sources and aggregating it into one place.

The following is how our SEO strategies train ChatGPT to provide SEO insights, and how Fuze7 and other marketers use this function to become more efficient at SEO-focused content creation.

Parameter 1: “I want my client’s business website to appear on Google’s page one organically, where do I start?”

ChatGPT’s response mirrors our current SEO strategy almost identically. If you’ve worked with us in the past, you’ve undoubtedly heard this (more than once):

“Getting a website to appear on Google’s page one organically takes time and effort, but there are several steps you can take to improve your chances:

  • Conduct keyword research: Start by researching the keywords your target audience is using to search for products or services related to your client’s business.
  • Optimize on-page content: Make sure your website’s content includes your target keywords in the title tag, meta description, headers, and body text.
  • Build high-quality backlinks: Backlinks from authoritative and relevant websites signal to search engines that your content is valuable and trustworthy.
  • Improve website speed: Google favors websites that load quickly.
  • Ensure mobile-friendliness: With more and more people using mobile devices to search, having a mobile-friendly website is critical for ranking on page one.
  • Utilize social media: Social media can help drive traffic to your website and signal to search engines that your content is relevant and valuable.

Remember, ranking on page one is an ongoing process, and it may take several months to see results. Keep monitoring your website’s performance and adjust your strategy as necessary.”

To be honest, we didn’t learn anything from this response. This is what we already know as your strategists in SEO. When we build a new website for a client, it’s with these steps in mind before we populate the site with pages and content. In the next step, we use third-party applications to conduct our SEO research, then fill in the gaps with ChatGPT.

Keep in mind – to frame up this next parameter, we first have to provide ChatGPT with our research to point the AI in the right direction. Building a full keyword set for organic growth still has the human element of coordination to it, but the results from ChatGPT help us cover the edges so we don’t miss anything.

Parameter 2: “Find high search volume related keywords to the following: Roof repair near me, highly-rated roofing companies in Oregon, affordable roofing services

ChatGPT’s response:

  • “Emergency roof repair”
  • “Roofing contractors in my area”
  • “Local roof repair”
  • “Roof repair cost”
  • “Best roofing companies near me”
  • “Roof replacement”
  • “Roof leak repair”
  • “Metal roofing”
  • “Residential roofing companies”
  • “Commercial roofing services”
  • “Flat roof repair”
  • “Roof maintenance”
  • “Roofing shingles”
  • “Roof inspection”
  • “Gutter installation”
  • “Roof cleaning”
  • “Slate roofing”
  • “Tile roofing”
  • “Asphalt roofing”
  • “Roofing estimate”

A strategic SEO eye will notice that these keywords are fairly broad and not catered to actual searches that users would use to find your business. In this way, this works only as a simple guideline for how we would then head back to our research to find new longtail keyword targets for SEO strength in web and blog content.

From this, we can solidify our keyword targets, and begin writing content with the knowledge that we are using keywords that will speed up the process of organic search result growth for our clients. Can ChatGPT Be Detected by Search Engine Crawlers?

There are murmurs that Google is already looking at ways to detect AI-written content. However, the simple remedy to this is to use ChatGPT for inspiration only and still have a human being write the content. At Fuze7, our content writers use ChatGPT for research only and still craft unique blogs and site copy in a way that leverages the input provided by the AI without directly quoting it.

While the Open AI is sounding more and more human with each iteration of the software, it still has a long way to go to become human. Fuze7 clients need not worry about what the future holds for this detection because they’ve hired professionals with decades of experience. We leverage AI functionality in our research stages only.

How Does ChatGPT Work for My Business?

ChatGPT comes with a smaller learning curve than most research software out there. However, understanding the right questions to ask and sifting through its responses should still be left to marketing professionals. People who work daily in the marketing space can use ChatGPT for a myriad of applications in a structured way that streamlines results.

Fuze7’s SEO services haven’t vastly changed due to ChatGPT, but the AI has certainly boosted our ability to conduct in-depth research while constructing sophisticated SEO content. We are already seeing results in SEO growth for several of our clients.
